Shipping & Receiving Assistant / Floor Support

$14–19/HR, BASED ON EXPERIENCE

No heat-treating experience required - we'll train you. Be the first and last touchpoint for customer tooling - receiving, inspecting, and prepping outbound UPS & freight shipments - while pitching in wherever the floor needs an extra set of hands.

Apprentice Metal Straightener

$19–21/HR TO START · UP TO ~$80K/YR

Reports to: Floor Lead / Straightening Room

What You'll Do

  • Learn to read work tickets: material grade, target Rockwell hardness (R/C), dimensions, and customer specs
  • Straighten tools using hand presses and flattening benches under supervision
  • Learn to use dial indicators and fixturing/gauges to check straightness against tolerance
  • Progress into hot straightening (immediately post-quench) and final straightening (post-temper, post-blast) stages
  • Learn our full production flow: In-House → Hardening → Hot Straightening → Draws → Wash → Sandblast → Final Straightening → Shipping
  • Follow safety procedures around furnaces, hot tooling, and pressing equipment (gloves, PPE provided)
  • Keep accurate records - stamping/signing off work as it clears straightening

What We're Looking For

  • No prior straightening experience required - we'll train you
  • Mechanically inclined; comfortable working with your hands and hand tools
  • Able to read a tape measure, dial indicator, or similar precision gauge (or willing to learn quickly)
  • Reliable, safety-conscious, and able to work standing/lifting throughout a shift (pieces up to 50 lb regularly)
  • Comfortable in an industrial floor environment (heat, noise, PPE)
  • A mechanical, machining, welding, or manufacturing background is a plus but not required

Growth Path

Entry point into our four-stage Straightener Apprenticeship Program: Foundational ($19–21/hr) → Independent Apprentice ($22–26/hr) → Journeyman ($27–30/hr) → Senior/Master ($31–38/hr, ~$80K/yr).

Physical Demands: Standing for extended periods, repetitive lifting/pressing motions, exposure to heat near furnace and hot-straightening areas, PPE required (gloves, safety glasses).

Experienced Metal Straightener

$27–38/HR, BASED ON EXPERIENCE

Reports to: Floor Lead / Straightening Room

What You'll Do

  • Independently straighten tooling across our full material range (M2 through high-cobalt/powder-metal HSS grades) and full size range (1/8″–5″ diameter, 5″–85″ length)
  • Work both hot straightening (post-quench) and final straightening (post-temper) stations
  • Read work tickets and apply the correct technique per material grade, hardness target, and temper stage
  • Use dial indicators, fixturing, and gauges to verify straightness against tolerance
  • Make the call on borderline pieces - straighten, flag for re-treatment, or reject
  • Sign off / stamp completed work for shipping
  • Mentor and train apprentice straighteners as our apprenticeship program ramps up
  • Help identify and resolve recurring distortion issues by job/material to reduce rework

What We're Looking For

  • 2+ years of hands-on metal straightening experience, ideally in heat treating, tool & die, or precision metal fabrication
  • Working knowledge of Rockwell hardness scales and how hardness/temper stage affects straightening technique
  • Comfortable making independent judgment calls on hardened, high-value tooling (no double-checking every piece)
  • Experience with hydraulic presses, hand presses, and precision measuring tools (dial indicators, gauges)
  • Track record of low scrap/rework rates
  • Reliable, safety-conscious, comfortable in an industrial floor environment (heat, noise, PPE)

Physical Demands: Standing for extended periods, repetitive lifting/pressing motions, exposure to heat near furnace and hot-straightening areas, PPE required (gloves, safety glasses). Lifting up to 50 lb regularly; heavier with equipment assistance.

Shipping & Receiving Assistant / Floor Support

$14–19/HR, BASED ON EXPERIENCE

Reports to: Floor Lead / Shipping Room

What You'll Do

  • Receive incoming customer tool shipments; create work tickets (customer, PO#, material type, hardness target, dimensions) and weigh parts
  • Pre-inspect incoming tools for existing damage and note it on the ticket
  • Re-count and re-measure outbound parts, pack them securely, band/tape boxes, and attach the correct paperwork (green/yellow shippers)
  • Process outbound shipments - UPS (service selection, labeling, end-of-day processing) and freight (bill of lading, carrier pickup coordination)
  • Keep the Daily Shipping Log and filing system up to date and organized
  • Help move jobs along the production floor as needed - supporting whichever station is backed up
  • Follow safety procedures around furnaces, hot tooling, and material handling (PPE provided)

What We're Looking For

  • No heat-treating experience required - we'll train you
  • Comfortable with basic computer use (shipping software, UPS system)
  • Organized and detail-oriented - customers' tooling is high-value, so accurate paperwork matters
  • Reliable, safety-conscious, comfortable in an industrial floor environment (heat, noise, PPE)
  • Able to lift/carry boxes and tooling regularly (up to 50 lb; heavier with equipment assistance)

Physical Demands: Standing for extended periods, repetitive lifting/carrying, exposure to heat near furnace and straightening areas, PPE required (gloves, safety glasses). Lifting 25–50 lb regularly.
